    fbw file extention

    Hewlett Packard laptop
    O/S windows vista home premium
    Athlon 64 cpu
I ran the system recovery partition on this laptop backup to an external hard drive.
There are two folders on the backup partition when i clicked on one of them it started to search for files then an error message popped up and stopped the backup when i clicked on it again nothing happens.
When i click on the second folder i get the message unable to open FBW files.
This is a friends computer her daughters lost all her college documents so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks jhad

    Re: fbw file extention

.FBW are HP backup files. There should be an exe file with them in the folder for you to open. It may be named something like Backup.001 or backup.exe

You might find this thread on another forum of use; http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-190926.html

    Re: fbw file extention

I can't open the folder when i try to open it ' it opens a window reading Backup.1.exe.
Then gives me the option to cancel or allow i click allow then nothing happens.
The first time i did it it gave me an error message but no longer does.
I checked the other site but didn't sort the problem thanks again jhad

    Re: fbw file extention

Sadly I've only used this program once so can't offer much advice. Others have reported having success running the program from safe mode. Beyond that and the suggestions in the thread I linked I'm stumped, sorry.

Hopefully someone else on the forum has more experience and can help you.

EDIT: This looks worth a go http://www.initechsolutions.org/arti..._restore_fixer
