About LinkBacksI seem to be getting error messages when I update windows or zune (microsoft's version of itunes). Is this linked somehow? Any obvious solutions?

Maybe the network you're connected to restricting certain access?
What do the errors say exactly?

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

And in Zune: Error code 0x800706048
Happens right at the start of the installation so seems like it should be easy to fix, it's just encountering some sort of problem?
Hmm these kind of things are fairly common on a locked down system or one using WUS or similar for managing updates.
