"During Microsoft's Windows 8 Consumer Preview Event at MWC today, Microsoft demonstrated some of the new features in the CP release out today. While the Metro UI obviously lends itself to use on a touch enabled tablet, Microsoft was clear to point out that it works just as well with a keyboard and mouse. Bezel gestures and regular multitouch gestures on the screen make sense on a tablet, but how do you get access to the multitasking UI, charms bar or other Windows 8 features if you have a traditional (non-touch) notebook? Through hot corners of course.
The traditional Start Menu is gone and has been replaced by a hot corner. Move your mouse to the lower left screen corner and you'll get a tiny popup that you can use to launch the Start Screen. The lower right corner lets you zoom in/out of the start screen, while the upper left corner lets you quickly switch between apps (just click to switch to your last app, or click and drag to reveal the task switcher). Finally, the upper right corner is used to reveal the Windows 8 charms bar."
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Desktop users - get used to Metro,MS has made its executive decision. Deal with it.

"Prior to this change in policy, Mainstream Support for Windows Vista would have run out in April of this year. Support for all users has now been extended through to 2017. Windows 7 was originally looking at a Mainstream Support end-date of 2015. All users can now expect support to last through to 2020.Extended Support for Windows XP, which is still used by many businesses, is scheduled to end in 2014."
Looks like Windows 7 support has been extended by 5 years.

Installed it, tried it, formatted, reinstalled Win 7. Even with the desktop the missing start button isn't particularly joyful and I couldn't even work out how to get into control panel at first :/
Jon
Can it be installed onto a partition?
2nd computer gigabyte P965ds3p, 7770 E2140@2.9ghz, corsair HX520 6 years stable, replaced now with E8400@3.9ghz and will overclock more when I'm bored.
What are your thoughts after using Windows 8 for a while? From what ive seen its not enough for me to upgrade when released. I know they say that it works just as well with a keyboard and mouse, but what advantages does it actually offer?
Would like to know what its like as well.
Anyone got any screenshots?
I've been meaning to download this just to see what we can expect over Windows 7, so if someone's got some shots, that'd be great!
Win 8 is great, I'd like to see more driver support from Nvidia for it
The lack of a start button really puts me off.
