Doesn't removing the Metro UI basically make it Windows 7? If so, errr... what's the point?

Because there is no point trying to use metro with a mouse......it just does not work.

I hated it in all honesty, would never get used to that metro thing, and on the desktop, without the start button I hate it even more. To be honest, it makes me feel like I am a PC user who really should have a tablet.

I dont think I will ever get used to it and there isn't anything really in it that makes me say, wow I need that.

Think its going to be what vista was to XP, an operating system you think you want then wish you hadn't when you get it. Think I will be staying with Windows 7 which I have a feeling will become the new XP.

Not had chance to try myself as not got a spare rig to pop it on, I can see how its very tablet friendly and I dont see how it will translate onto desktops and make things any 'better' - but I will happily be disproven!

Seems very little behind the scenes has changed.....

Was able to attach to my domain, SCE 2010 deployed software packages, AD policies were adhered to.....the only thing "broken" so far is that SCE 2010 (and I am guessing WSUS as well) cannot deploy OS updates to it.....but that ain't surprising really.....oh and SCE doesn't see it as a "Windows Workstation" :S

Indeed, I think the people with a touch screen monitor for a pc anyway are very much in the minority, as standard I would have liked to have seen a Windows 8 desktop and the metro thing that is something that can be turned on.

It kinda reminds me of the Vista sidebar, which I ended up turning off within days permanently.
