    With a bit of tweaking, you'll have full Last.fm integration (with song statistic imports), tons of additional components and a fully customisable layout. MusicBee is great too if you want something that just works, but I don't think anything is as good as foobar.

    WMP for ripping to wma lossless and for casual playback. Easiest way to rip lossles, finds album info very quickly and has a pretty good error correction system on board. I would prefer if it supported FLAC properly, as WMA lossless is not a widely supported format.
    Foobar for everything else audio wise, I can give it exclusivity over the sound card with WASAPI. Excellent conversion tools, I make mp3 cds for my car and occasionally do weird conversions like an EQ/DSP processed conversion/copy.
    Simple layout too, I believe you can bring up album art, but I like the clean, simple interface. Winamp is powerful but everytime I open it I think I'm in 1998.

    Try Zune player I find it quite good for general audio and I use WMP for video with K-Lite codec packs for all video playing.

    used to use winamp but now use Musicbee with all files on a NAS (cant post a link (yet) as i need to get my post count up)
    i suppose it can be simple until you start messing about with the various views and tags etc - hours of fun
