Acronis TI & Win7 affecting USB sticks ?

I have found out the reason my new Kingston USB sticks do not work well if at all with Win 7 is because of some kind of conflict with Acronis TI.

Strangely, This does not affect my other USB sticks or memory cards. After I had removed Acronis TI the Kingston drives still take about 10-12 seconds for the OS to detect them in comparison to about 2 seconds for the other types I have.

Does anybody know what causes the conflict and if there is a work around for it (apart from not reinstalling TI)?

I think I remember reading somewhere, probably Wilders forums, that Acronis leaves significant remnants behind. Check for leftover services & drivers etc. Nirsoft's 'serviwin' app is good.

I did that! and could not get windows to start again

Ummm OK. Do F8 at startup, then "last known good config" - should sort that...

I tried everything and gave up. Reinstalled windows. I'm sure I'd backed up but, Could not find the back up.

Well, after doing a fresh install I did find the Image I'd made.

The USB sticks now work as they should.

Kingston technical was very helpful, On the other hand. I can't register my copy of Acronis TI 2012 with Acronis which means I can't use there support. I did Email them explaining the problems with registering and also with the Software stopping the Kingston USB sticks working and still have not received a reply from them regarding either registering or the USB problems caused by their software.

They aren't those USB sticks which show as 2 drives are they? (one for storage, the other an application area)

Some software hates partitioned USB drives.

No they had nothing on them just 16GB single partition, The guy at Kingston technical knew about the issue and he asked me if I had Acronis TI installed.

I'm just a bit miffed at Acronis as I bought TI directly from them and now I can't register it on their website and without registering it I can't access Acronis tech support.
