    webcam splitter

    I have a webcam...

I would like to use the same webcam on multiple clients simultaneously... but windows won't let me

I have looked into slitcam from splitcamera.com but found it very obtrusive... I seriously don't want this.

I looked into gormedia which offer what at first seems a ideal solution.. a simple driver that performs this function... but it seems to also contain the somoto.a adware (probably toolbar)

other programs seem to offer all sorts of additional functions.. I really want one thing.. to split webcam signal between multiple clients simultaneously.

Has anyone else successfully solved this issue? Please could you tell me how. Thank you

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack

I'm not sure what your referring to?

I'm guessing you mean stream the image and use the stream as the source? nice idea didn't think of that...

    Unfortunately Skype doesn't allow this.

    What about manycam:

ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications access the video stream without conflict.
ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more.

Yes that's much better.. thank you
still a bit bloated though.. even without the toolbar. The free version adds a manycam.com logo to the stream and it is packed full of special effects... it is possible that the manycam.com logo is removed from the pro version but it doesn't say so in their write ups.
Still I was hoping for something much simpler... but yes, thank you this is a solution for now.

edit: oops.. it does state that pro version removes watermark...

    Re: webcam splitter

    so far I've found:
    camsplitter
    dvdriver
    e2eSoft VCam
    TrackerCam
    WebcamMax
    Willing Webcam

out of these camsplitter seems the most promising.. sadly they are all premium products.
Kinda sucks having to shell out when the clients I'm using it with are all free!

    I will persevere!
