i am in 2 minds whether to install SP2, I don't need the extra firewall security as it will be turned off due to the router using NAT and stealth ports and the wifi security, I have no intentions of wifi so its no use to me. Anyone heard a definate about what programs MS have found to have problems with SP2 as it was mentioned some apps may die there and then and refuse to work with SP2?
i know sum1 who used the beta v bad.and also it wouldnt pick any printers up either.crap basically lol.
I'm running the SP2 RC2 and haven't had any problems with it yet.
hmmm lots of numb nuts with cracked versions will download and try and install!
The popup blocker built into IE is good, shame the only time I ever IE now is for the windows update site.
70MB? 90MB? Wasn't the beta version like 260MB? (Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?) Because if it was thats a rather large drop in size...whats been booted from it?

Nothing at all.
for a full install from a vergin xp setup it will be 200+ for one that has sp1 and some of the updates it will be the 90meg update :)
No, 70-90 is if you install to a single machine using the Windows Update v5 Preview site. The 260+ is if you download the whole kit and caboodle for installation from a network or on multiple machines.
I belive MS has disabled the part which prevents people with cracked versions installing it, the reasoning being to prevent mass virus outbreaks on unpatched machines.Quote:

They initially decided to do as mgh0 states, but changed their minds and now all previously known fake Volume License (or Corporate as it's well known) keys are blocked from use with SP2, even the RCs. Now whether there's a way round this I can't say ;)
Ahh, right, that would be why then. I have 3 PCs and a laptop, 2 of which have Windows on them. I also format windows frequently, would probably explain why I have the rather large 260MB one. =DQuote:

640 codes are the only corp PID's that will function now btw
Well, mine is full legal anyway
Likewise, and I'm DL'ing RC2 now - thing is, it won't be optional; you know that subsequent bugfixes will have SP2 as a prerequisite.
