    Dumping IE

After hearing all the problems with IE and the general lack of some feature *cough* tabbed browsing *cough* I was thinking wether or not to dump IE and use something like Firefox.
    What do you guys think?

btw you will have to keep ie for some of the sites out there don't work with any other browser because of wat ever scripting language they have used.

How ever you should find that 99% of sites work with out a problem

and there's a handy little extension/plugin you can get for Firefox that allows you to "view this page in IE" if it doesn't work...

Any linkage to that or does it come with firefox?
Also, how big (Mb wise) is Firefox to download?

another alternative is Opera - 3.4m download iirc & that includes a lot of the features that are additional downloads for Mozilla/Firefox.

I was a devout follower of the church of "it works so why change?" for many many years and used IE without question. Lately the escalating security flaws have turned the murmur of change in the back of my head to an insistent roar.

Installed Firefox for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say hand on heart I'm never going back. It's fantastic! Not only the security but oh my, the features! Tabbed browsing is a godsend, built in popupstopper and so many addons (adblock and tabbrowser extensions are worth it alone)

I just downloaded Firefox and I have to say its pretty impressive. I know how to get new tabs etc but when I click a link (like the link from hexus.net to forums.hexus.net) it opens a whole new window and doesnt open a new tab. I know there is some kind of setting I need to change but I can't really see one.
Cheers guys, glad I got rid of IE now!

I took some time to become aqcuainted with FireFox, but once you realise there's a plugin for EVERYthing you want FF to do, you can customise it to exactly how you want it.

    Miss IE's pop alt-atributes?

    Want Mouse Gestures?
    http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#aio

Want everything to open in tabs in one window?
    http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#thiswindow

Want to right click in the url bar and select 'paste and go' (a la Opera)?
    http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#pasteandgo

Right Click and 'Open in IE'?

nether do i, firefox suxs (imho) and having used mozzila it for about a year i undated to firefox and was quite happy - untill i used oprea.

now i would never use anythink but oprea!!
    - its "more tabbed" (ie, if a link it designed to open in a new window, oprea opens it in a new tab, but Firefox opens you another window )
    - when you close it, it "saves" all your pages
    - and its nice blue colour
