Moving from old computer to new computer… tips please!

Hi my new computer has just been built and I wanna move from my old computer to my new one, the bad news is I need the existing hard drive, meaning I will have to move my files on to my secondary hard drive, then format my primary hard drive if that makes sense!

I was thinking of using the ‘file transfer wizard’ any good? I have not used it before.. I wanna make sure I have most of my settings if possible..

I also have office 2003 and will do on my new computer I use outlook 2003 and will defiantly wanna make sure all my emails, folders and settings can be swapped with minimal hassle.. so is that still done via the PST file? I have not done this since office 2000.

Any tips or suggestions will be well appreciated.

Thanks for your time in advance

I've no experience with the file transfer wizard (and I doubt I'd trust it either). All of your e-mails (and contacts) will be in a PST file but the account settings etc aren't in them - you can export them if you don't want to set them up again. Keep a record of all your account names, passwords, etc (e-mail accounts and net dial up). Oh and make sure you copy over your favourites too (I almost always forget them when I do a re-install). And obviously any docs / pics / music.

files and settings transfer wizard is suprisingly good - just make sure you pick which stuff you want to migrate carefully.
