    Ghost 2003 and windows XP

    Ghost 2003 and windows XP

Hi I’m gonna Ghost my hard drive tonight as the current 30gig one I have is going in a different computer I have used ghost 2003 millions of times on win98 at work, just wondering if there are any issues with window xp. Also I’m ghosting for a 30gig onto either a 20gig or a 40gig… is this a problem, I have around 10gig of data to ghost?

No problems. 2003 supports all file systems (Fat16/32, NTFS, EXT2 etc)

It will just ask you to specify what size you want the new partitions (Larger or smaller respectivley)

    Ghost Rocks.

    Ghost is VERY good

Only fault with 2003 is that it doesnt like having any SATA drives enabled (even if its ghosting IDE drives) unless you get the update from Symantec.

    Really? That's kinda nasty.

The Symantec Ghosts all seem to handle this perfectly. Only used Norton Ghost 2003 once and never again. I like the old-school text based interface - It always works!

    Symantec Ghost = Corporate Version
    v7, v8 etc.
    Norton Ghost = Home User
    2003, 2004 etc.

And yes - The latest version is v8. Or 8.x.

    LOL!

I FAR prefer the "normal" version. Used NG2003 and it failed before it even created the image. Couldn't boot from it's "virtual partiton".

OK, it may be easier to click buttons, but the overall process is A LOT simpler with the corp version and a Win95 boot floppy.
