Problem when trying to make a dual monitor wallpaper.

I'm trying to make a dual monitor wallpaper so that I have different images on each monitor. I know there is no such function in Windows 7 to do this, and that you can get 3rd party software, but I don't really want to spend any money on it or install another piece of software on my machine just to make it happen.

I thought it would be just as easy as stitching 2 images together and tiling the wallpaper, but it comes out funny on the 2nd monitor.

    I have this:

But this is how it come out when tiled across the monitors:

I have 2 x 1920 x 1200 res monitors, so I thought it would be easy to make an image of 3840 x 1200 and stick them together.

Does anyone know why when I tile the wallpaper, Windows makes it slightly bigger causing the issue or how to fix it?

    Thanks for any help

haven't got 2 screens to test this but have you tried setting the picture position (bottom left personalization, desktop background) to centre or fill? I'd say the issue is probably down to the 'tiling' setting.

Having said that, do you have 2 identical screens, you may need to oversize the image slightly to allow for differences in the screens if they're different makes/models

I know you said you didn't want to use extra software, but if you decide you do want to (or have to) in the future, Display fusion is good. I use the free version because all I wanted was different images on my two monitors. The paid version is tempting to get a rotating selection of images, but I never got round to it.

Wait for Windows 8. Apparently, it will make setting up wallpaper for multi-monitor systems straightforward.
