    Tools of the trade

    Hi,

Can anyone suggest some good bits of software that could be used as a technicians day to day tool kit. Software that can extract all the drivers on a computer, put the hardware under full load, backing up data, getting specification of the computer etc. etc.

    Thanks !

Not been mentioned yet but you NEED a mem tester. memtest86 is fine most of the time, but ive heard there is a program called goldmem or something, suppost to be better.

Also you could do with a complete driver cd. goto the sites of all major hardware manufacturers and leach everything you can
I need to do this some time, too often im fixing my nans pc or another pc with no idea what hardware it has, only to find i need to get drivers - and she has no internet there...

maybe silentdeath could run a sideline business of posting out CD's of drivers !

I saw a website that distributes and ISO with everything you need, and suggestions are posted by IT guys to extend it. But, for the life of me, i can't remember what the site was called...
