Windows 7 not detecting USB hardware

Recently I bought myself a Snooper GPS Speed Camera warning device. It tells me to plug the SUB cable into my laptop, wait for it to install the USB drivers then proceed with installing the device. When i do this though, it just comes up with hardware not intstalled correctly.

When i use the 'Windows 7 drivers' on their website, all that downloads is a .sys file and a condig readme .txt file. I fail to see how I use these to make my laptop detect ther USb port correctly.

When plugged into Windows XP it is installed correctly and all works happily, but with em not having computers a decade old all of my stuff in Windows 7!

Can anyone suggest a way around this?

The pdf manual says to use the installation disk, and then re-boot the machine ?

Utterly utterly daft in this day and age and for it no to support Vista/Windows 7!

Tried everything, their latest software on their website, using this stupid .sys file & config file they have in the USb drivers folder and still nothing.

Unless I find out soon it is being sent back on Monday morning! Thanks all the same Phage!

are you using Acronis TI 2011? It does something to the USB detection in Windows 7.

Run the software in Xp compatability mode!

Software works fine, its the USB not being detected that's the problem! Can I run that in compatible mode?

All worked fine on a mates XP machine, I'd just like to update it myself (hence the subscription to do so).

You do have the Virtulization option on Windows 7 so you can run a virtual Win XP machine just for the updates.

Have you tried doing a manual Driver install through Device Manager directing it to the folder with the .sys file in it

Thanks guys, i have emailed them but the virtualisation (sp) of Windows XP did the trick!
