I Have A Folder Called Mount???

    Hi,

Using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. While trying to find some stuff to clear off my SSD, I noticed a folder in the root directory of C: called Mount. it seems to have the date 14/07/2009 and is about 1GB in size. I dont remember putting it on there or why its there, it seems to have some of the Windows 7 installation files in it.

Anyone heard of it or know what it does or is it ok to delete?

It was a clean SSD and a full version of Windows when I installed Windows.
    Jon

Hmmm, ok, think I will back it up to another drive and then delete it and see if I run into any problems.

Agreed, sounds like you might have used it to mount an ISO disc image at one time ?

Hmm, I did resize a drive, maybe it came from that, the only thing the directory contained was the windows installation files, oddness

Re: I Have A Folder Called Mount???

I just got the exact same folder, "Mount", under the C root. I've no idea of why it appeared and I didn't do any unusual. It seems to be the exact same folder as Jonj1611 had, it was last changed 2009-07-14 07:39 and is about 1 GB big.
A have like he had an SSD and Win 7 x64 Professional. I also have a Gigabyte Z68 motherboard with a 3570K CPU.
It's not a new installation, I think I installed it around christmas last year. I changed the CPU a few days back though, but I didn't got this folder until a few hours ago.
There are 4 folders, "Program Files", "sources", "Users" and "Windows", and 1 file named "setup.exe". Almost everything can be found under "Windows".

Did you, Jonj1611, find out what placed the folder there or did you just remove it? Is there someone else who knows who placed it there? Is it something Windows placed there by some reason?
