So what Malware would cause this ?

Next weekend I'm meant to be looking at Donna's laptop for her, as she's compklaing that she's getting e-mail from herself in all her mail accounts. She's been asking me to have a look at it for weeks now, but given that fact we've both been busy I've now fuinally got next weekend clear for when she's home and I don't have to go out anywhere to get her to bring round to have a look.

What I do know is she is on Windows 7 HP 64 bit, and I know she runs (more fool her !) Norton Internet Security. When I asked her last night if she had made her recovery DVD's she said and I qoute "What are those then ?"

If I have to do a full reinstall that won't be a problem, I've got a 7 HP 64 Bit OEM disc only I can use and as her laptop is a Samsung I think I can get all the drivers for them off the web.

I'm thinking though of doing a sweep with ComboFix, although that has been known to create more problems than it fixes.

    Any suggestions ?

If a full reinstall isn't a problem then that's your quickest and most effective way of cleaning up. After you've done that, change email passwords.

However it's likely the emails are just spoofing her email address, and it's nothing to do with malware, just normal spam. Have a look at the full headers.
