Strange issue viewing CCTV in IE

Hi, This is driving me mad, so I wonder if any of you guys can help.

I've set up a PC purely to view CCTV output, so the User profile (Windows XP) is set with IE in the Startup folder, and the home page of IE is set to go to the IP address of the CCTV. It all works fine, apart from when IE first loads up, you get 'Cannot load page, Diagnose Connection Issues', but when you press F5, it connects fine and brings up the Username/Password dialogue, then goes into the CCTV images OK.

Anyone got any ideas on how to prevent it erroring when IE is opened? It happens both on startup of the PC and if you close IE and open it again. IE is 8, all updates installed, and the CCTV site has been added to Trusted Sites. Also, I've changed the setting to allow pretty much anything to run, to no avail.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I expect it's either waiting for DHCP, and/or IE's Options->Connection->LAN Settings "automatically detect" timing out.

Replace the IE startup item with a batch file which starts IE, but before starting iexplore.exe include a 15-second delay or so to allow the network to start up. Something like this should suffice:
    ping -t 1.1.1.1 -w 500 -n 11

Re: Strange issue viewing CCTV in IE

Hi, thanks for the reply. I went and checked the settings, and it wasn't automatically detecting, but the issue seems to be not just on startup, it's when IE is started. If I close IE and re-open it, I get the error. If I F5, it brings up the login box (separate window). Could it be because the login box is not launching on time?

Tried Firefox? That would eliminate just IE and maybe lock it down some.
Other than that you can get addons that add a refresh in to IE but that would just hide the issue.

The CCTV is ActiveX only, unfortunately... I did try FF and Chrome, then found out. I think it's quite an old system...
