im sure you were told it wasnt what you were thinking, linspire that is :| reading the site its makes me think .. bad linux for idiots :| if you REALLY want linux go for a .. decent .. distro. (slack/deb/gentoo etc) oh and, your question.. there doesnt seem to be a shareware or freeware version of linspire, so i guess its an illegal copy :|

why would you need a CD key? it's Linux! No doubt they're selling burns of the free ISOs that have been up on the linspire site a few times
for example, hit http://info.linspire.com/p2p/p2p-mm.html for an official bittorrent download.
infact looking at its flash presentation on using the OS, makes me cringe, its like microsoft reborne.
