Media Software suggestions?

I have a large library of movies on my computer, but I'm currently browsing through them through the standard windows folder system.
Im looking for a nice media browser/player that I can browse through my library, something that will find images (i.e. posters/dvd covers) and info (a synopsis etc) for the movies preferably from an online download.
Has anyone got any suggestions of free software that will do this?

I did try Media Portal, but that was taking ages (1 movie at a time) to download all the info and looks very boring.

Had a look at XBMC?

Don't currently use it, but have in the past and has a variety of looks etc, does the job you're wanting it for by the sounds of it.

ok stupid question but how do you get windows media center to pull cover art and info down?

I use it on a laptop connected to the TV as a HTPC but it only lists them in an explorer like interface
