sophos UTM home edition

I thought I would let members know of a nice piece of free software.

You need to use a spare computer to install sophos utm since it uses its own linux based operating system and erases all data on the hard drive. http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products...e-edition.aspx

this piece of software is used to filter out crap before it hits your computers. it has firewall,antivirus etc.
I had to tweak the defaults since the web protection blocks all executable files until you remove them from the list.

it has both avira and sophos antivirus engine for web filtering. the home license also allows you to install sophos endpoint antivirus on to 10machines for free.

I have only tryed it in a virtual machine so far.

For what it's worth, back before Sophos bought Astaro I used to run the Astaro UTM at home and absolutely loved it. Hopefully Sophos haven't ruined it!
