It might be defeating the point but with start8 and mobile mix it is very usable

Right click where the start buton used to be.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
For a thread all about how "not really bothered" people are about an operating system there sure seems to be a lot of comment...

Not sure if this is mentioned but I found adding a toolbar to the taskbar which shortcuts to the Programs area very useful.
Method:
Right click on the toolbar -> toolbars -> new toolbar
Paste the following into the 'directory' bar at the top..
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Click OK, Voila!
Also, I added the Control Panel, userfiles & My Computer to the desktop. Right click and personalize -> Change desktop items and tick the relevant boxes.
The only thing I find absolutely ridiculous is that if you have Windows 8 pre-installed you first have to pay to upgrade it to another version, and then you can downgrade it to 7.. Obviously they don't want to make it any easy for users to downgrade, but I guess it's understandable from their point of view..
As of now, not even a bit bothered but would surely be when win7 would become obsolete
Personally, I like Windows 8 mainly because of the slight increased performance compared to Windows 7, I just want to wait for 8.1 to be released, so I can get rid of that Metro start thing much more easily
win8 sucks.i like windows 7 a lot more.windows 7 ultimate..the best OS version for me!
win 8 is a little bit boring for me!
WIN + R is actually quite good once you get used to it
Everyone hates change, I am glad that Windows 8.1 is bringing back the start button and will now probably upgrade.
Indeed I think when most people demanded the Start Button back they actually wanted the entire Start Menu back but M$ gave people what they asked for, not what they wanted
I think the tile list is awful, you can't even see full program names as it cuts most of them off - We have got round it at work on the test machines by creating a toolbar on taskbar to the Start > Programfiles dir
