From your calculation its BAD.I agree with you. Windows 7 is better than 8.
Installed Windows 8.1 couple days ago as I needed a format and I had a free key and I don't mind it... I did however set it to start to desktop and install http://www.classicshell.net/ to get my startmenu back

I use Windows 8 over windows 7 - better optimisations, quicker boot time and much smoother. Just tick startisback on it and I don't ever see the new start menu etc - you can't even tell the difference.
definitely making the jump to windows 8.1, there seems to be many optimisations; boot speed and vastly improved search to name a few. Now that the metro interface can be tucked away it seems like a good time to go for it
Had to use Win 8 as I wanted to use AHCI to install on an older PC with a P5Q motherboard. Win 7 doesn't have the drivers I need for that, I didn't want to install XP first to get the needed driver and put 7 on top, so I used 8 as it has the needed drivers. It works well.
I believe that ms should give the option to change what device you are using. So if you have a tablet or other device with a touchscreen, you can use the current interface. But if not, you get the start menu back and the interface is much easier to use with a mouse and keyboard.
When not in use, turn off the juice.
Think of someone else instead of just yourself. There is far more to it than your utility bill.
I didn't include any of the NT operating systems in that list, and NT5/Win 2k seemed to fit the business server based users more than it did for home/domestic users so I skipped that one too.
I went from 98se to Win 2k, then XP to Win 7 and then Win 8 and finally 8.1.
I genuinely thought I would hate Win 8, but knew it would become a necessity due to the work I do so I ended up having to try it out. I have to say it has completely taken me by surprise. I really like it, a lot more than most people seem to.
Although 8 does have some cool new features,
For me I'm sticking to 7 as using 8 on a desktop feels clunky and slow. It's no wonder that 7 is still outselling 8 even with the release of 8.1!
I just installed Classic Shell and it looks like Windows 7, I like feeling as though my operating systems are up to date (apart from Vista because it was just terrible).
Will be skipping 8, nothing really drawing me to upgrade.
I'm usually chomping at the bit for a new version of windows but I tried it for 30 mins then reformatted and reinstalled 7. Absolute garbage!
