    Ubuntu 12.04 connection problem

I have a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. I have a fibre optic connection through Virgin Media. When I connect wirelessly to my network on Ubuntu 12.04 the connection drops after a few minutes and I have to disconnect and connect back to it again and again. I can't do updates because it always cuts out, so my updates always freeze and hang until the connection is working again.

So, I have been using my neighbours wireless connection ( he's with BT ) in order to install all additional updates for Ubuntu.

I can surf the internet all day long while connected to my neighbours network, however the minute I connect to my network, a few minutes go by while surfing the internet and then the pages won't load and I have to disconnect and connect back to my network again to surf the internet for another few minutes.

Like I said, I have installed all drivers and additional updates for Ubuntu through using my neighbours network.

What is my problem and how can I fix it??

EDIT: I have not experienced any problems like this on Windows 7.
