I’m thinking of replacing my 30gig hard drive with a 80gig one, now I would prefer not to do a reinstall, and would rather use ghost 2003 if I defiantly won’t lose any performance or bring myself trouble later on
I would appreciate your views guys,
I’m using win xp (sp1) on a amd shuttle system (SN41G2)

It is a dos program and does not generally cause a lot of problems.
To put the 30gb back onto an 80gb drive you will need to do an image resize when putting it back, thing is that you can test anyway and will still have the 30gb there as a startup drive option no matter what happens.
Shouldn't be a problem. I ghosted a 40gb to a 120gb drive and the drive benchmarked as well as in all the reviews. Saved a hell of a lot of work with reinstalling.
ok thanks chaps, what the image resize thing? i have ony ghosted the same size drives before, is it easy to do?
Yeah it is easy, I do Enterprise Ghost and not the consumer one, but they are practically the same, and you need to give it a switch to put the image back on a larger destination and the switch is SZEF which will resize the first partition of the destination drive to the largest allowed by the file system, that means it will use all the white space on the drive.
It is easy.
Ghost should offer you a disk copy which will do the resizing automatically.

Just a point for anybody reading this thread and considering doing the same. Swapping drives like this is fine if they use the same interface, but an IDE to SATA upgrade will probably break the OS.
Carn't say i have had that prob with the machines i have done.....
