Yeh I'm not sure if you're familiar with Ableton Live much. But it has this live feature (hence the name lol) where you can record sections of your songs in loops so you can improvise it live. I probably couldn't explain it in depth to well, but if you look up some videos of it you'll see what I mean. Bitwig just seems so similar to Ableton Live. Definitely heavily influenced by it! Also I messaged the Bitwig team earlier and they said that with one license I can use the software on all 3 operating systems at the same time. So I can easily get it for Windows at first, and then use it on Linux when I'm ready. Super excited about this software. I'm just praying it's affordable!

I think Fraps could work as well, just disable the video recording

I have played around with ableton a fair bit, its been on my 'need to learn' list for ages!

Unfortunately im not a musican so i would also be learning that aswell :/

Only issue i see with linux is that there isnt a lot of support for hardware interfaces AFAIK.

Ableton is pretty easy to learn. When you hover the mouse pointer over something it gives you a brief description of what it does in the bottom left corner Its only advanced things that will take a tutorial to get the hang of.

I'm not sure about that with Linux. There's probably a way round it though...
