Question MKV in Windows Media Player

I need a little bit of help with mkv files.

I recently reinstalled Windows trying to resolve issues with what turned out to be a faulty HD7870. Since the reinstall I cannot for the life of me get WMP to show mkv files as videos, they show as other media.

I've tried every reg tweak, I've installed and uninstalled Shark007 codec pack, tried the CCCP pack and even DivX install. WMP will happily play the files if double clicked on. The problem is that my PC is networked with my LG Smart TV which relies on WMP to tell it what it can play. Prior to reinstall MKV files showed up just fine on my TV, now because WMP refuses to list them as videos it won't

    Am I missing something obvious?

Re: MKV in Windows Media Player

Ha what an idiot I am. I removed all folders from libraries\videos and added them back in. Now mkv files are listed as videos!
