    Anyone switched to outlook?

Just noticed that I can upgrade my hotmail account to outlook, but I'm happy with hotmail as it is. Has anyone switched over yet, and if so any drawbacks or other issues?

When will Microsoft force outlook on people using hotmail, as I can't find any official date yet.

    Re: Anyone switched to outlook?

Since I have alot of things setup to go to my hotmail account, I wouldn't be too happy having to re-change everything, as I bet it won't redirect from the old address forever.

I did make the switch which was a great move!

I have the new @outlook.com email address but will kill off the SMTP pointing at hotmail.co.uk very soon.

No issues so far although I wish you could adjust the columns when composing new message (To: takes up about 1/3 of the screen)

Yes, outlook.com rather than Outlook the program though, not super clear from title.

Prefer the Outlook program; but Gmail via iPhone is sufficient.

    Re: Anyone switched to outlook?

I have switched, and also used the outlook connector to upload all my email folders (about 3GB) there.

Works well, especially with windows 8 (and my outlook account is the "microsoft account" too)

    Re: Anyone switched to outlook?

I have heard that some are not getting ail re-directed correctly, which would hamper my fathers work a little if it messed up. If they do force it then I may just move everything to gmail instead, and from talking to friends they would do the same. Microsoft think there going to increase people using their services, but they could also drive people away.

    Re: Anyone switched to outlook?

I use my Hotmail on windows live mail, but when I went to the browser there was a radio button to go over to Outlook, which I wish I never pressed, it has totally cocked stuff up, Microsoft seem to be changing loads of stuff now.

That's the main reason I have not done it yet! I will wait until the last moment and then make the switch.

Thanks for that, I have tried to configure the boxes on the right hand side of outlook but got no where whether it is just a Beta online outlook that will not let you configure them at all at the moment, any way back to Hotmail after looking in the settings.

    Re: Anyone switched to outlook?

Well microsoft have finally forced outlook on me Hate the look of it all!!! It looks like some child friendly email system, where as Hotmail was just fine and looked fine. Also unlike with hotmail where who could stay signed out of the web messenger, with outlook you are logged into web messenger when you go to look at email. And there is no option to stay signed out of the web messenger So now when I log into msn and then look at my emails, it shows me as being logged into two places!! For the time being my dad can still use hotmail, at least until he is forced to use outlook.

Microsoft want to compete with gmail, but that boat has already sailed!!!! How they come out with these stupid decisions is beyond me!!
