We knew this at least back in September, if not much earlier, no?

so games developers will continue to use 11 not 11.1 or they will lose out to 90% of the market.

I hate Windows and I refuse to go to Windows 8

I'm not too keen on Windows 8, but MS will eventually force gamers to move from Windows 7 at some point as there's no alternative and they know it! I absolutely loathe Apple and Linux is still not yet a viable option for mainstream gaming (plus it's usually more complicated to use for the average PC user). I can't see dx11.1 as being a major improvement over DX11 anyway... We probably won't be missing out on much.
Microsoft need to engage the brain with this.
What percentage of gamers use Win 7? Bet its loads and therefore the target audience.
The number of 'tripple A' games titles using DX10 or later is depressingly small...'Borderlands 2' for example is a DX9 title (a modified version of the Unreal 3 engine). I don't think we'll see all that many DX11.1 titles until the next generation of games consoles come on the market. By which time Windows 9 will be out, no doubt

Complete non issue for me - for one i'll be using 8 as soon as poss and for two, it'll be 1-2 years before there's any benefit AND even then the features in .1 aren't really of any major benefit (to me).
Quite a few recent games are still DX9 (no thanks to those crippled old consoles )... The only thing i ever notice with DX11 is tesselation and that's about it... There are other enhancements (that maybe get used?) but none that really stand out for me.
