    Exclamation Installing XP

I'm installing windows XP, and deleting everything on the hard disk at the same time (I've been told it can be done). I've got to the bit where it asks if I want to delete the selected partition etc. So I press D to continue. Then it gives this message:

Setup is unable to perform the requested operation on the selected partition. This partition contains tempory setup files that are required to complete the installation.

What do I do? How do I complete setup and format the disk too?

    Thanks

You've gone about this the wrong way, methinks; 10-1 you stuck the CD in under your current OS and did an upgrade. Bad idea; you need to boot off the CD, and install that way. You'll get to the same screen, at which point you'll be able to delete the partition and then either create a partition of the desired size or just install on the unpartitioned space, in which case it'll create the partition automagically and format it.
