    Windows 7 maximum addressable memory?

    what is the amount of memory windows 7 can address? both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.. i have 16GB memory for a new pc build..

    32bit = 4GB
    64bit = much more than you have but I cant remember how much

    Starter: 8GB
    Home Basic: 8GB
    Home Premium: 16GB
    Professional: 192GB
    Enterprise: 192GB
    Ultimate: 192GB

    i got home premium edition. ah max 16GB but my mobo supports 32GB.
    @chuckskull what about windows 8? there is more than one edition of that?

    Windows 8 standard supports up to 128GB and pro 512GB. 32bit versions are, as always, limited to 4GB.

    You'll need an OS that can handle 32GB RAM to make use of your motherboard's full capacity. However 16GB will be more than enough for a while yet.
