    Unhappy Ditching my webhost.

Well, I've had enough of my current webhost and need one that is:

RELIABLE - this is THE most important factor.
Has mySQL databases (one would do but the more the merrier)
    PHP
    POP e-mail
SSH access would be a treat, but not absolutely necessary if it has a half decent control panel such as cPanel.

I don't have too much budget unfortunately, but reading the forum sticky, this caught my eye:

    http://www.hosting-unlimited.net/premier.php £40 a year.

That's about what I can stretch to. Is it worth it, or are there any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Kez.

Everyone tells me i get ripped off with my webhost but the reason i have a lack of features is because of the reliability and the uptime. My host is by far the best i've seen for fully packed features and great support team

I'm with hosting-unlimited, they have everything you need. Pop over to the forums if you have any questions, and I believe they recently added SSH.

I think I'll move over then. Do they have a catchall e-mail for this package:

    http://www.hosting-unlimited.net/basic.php ???

    Thanks!

edit: I should sign up to their forum really, but that requires more effort than the hexus quick reply box!

If you mean to forward all emails (*@domain.com) to another email address, or to download all emails to one POP3 account, then yes, I believe they do that for all packages.

What's the latest secure thing you added then, or was that something to do with FTP?

Kez - have a look at fluent...... if they are good enough to host hexus

I have a couple of client sites with them as well and they have never been a problem.

If "RELIABLE - this is THE most important factor" is what your after, then your gonna have to look elsewhere than the mass market ub3r web hosters as they put costs well before reliability or service and ive used quite a few of em and not been satisfied.

Fact is, £40/year will not get you reliabile web hosting. Period. Their websites may say theyre reliable, their workers may say they give service, but you get what you pay for and economies of scale can only reduce the price so much, the rest is reduction in service.

Your going to be looking at alot more than £40/year if you go with fluent, but you will get a reliable fast webhost. After all how many times does hexus go down due to ISP related problems as opposed to due to us upgrading/maintaining the site? I can count that on one hand, and i may have quite a few fingers spare.
