I've nearly got my second computer ready, and I was thinking of sticking Linux on it instead of Windows, so you can expect lots of questions in the future from a very confused Mike!
But for now, which Linux thingy-ma-bobby (distro?) would you recommend? It'll be used for pretty basic stuff - the most complicated probably being burning CDs. I won't be playing any games on it. Seeing as I've never used Linux before, I'd like it to be fairly simple to set up and use.

Hm, never used Linux before..then mandrake is a very easy dist. to begin with. I must say, there is a similar thread about this somewhere..
but whatever, that is really good if you are a beginner. Then you can andvance to something like Debian when you know a little bit more about it.
Hm, then there is gentoo, which has a really good package system..although it takes alot of time to install it.

I believe that similar thread may have been started by me - I'll try and find a link.
If I were you, I'd download a sort of linux demo, that way, you can see what you're getting before you get it! The demo is as if you were really using the OS. It runs completely off your CD drive, and although your HDD is viewable, you cannot change anything on it. There should be more info in that tread, now to find the link....

SuSE is very easy to get to grips with, they even have a live CD version so you can try it out without installing it.
Go with Debian... and use Directhex's guide...
