Can't get rid of internet explorer

    Hey,
I'm using XP SP2 i know i cant actually get rid of internet explorer as it is needed, but when i try to set other browsers to default (Firefox, and mozilla) it just completely ignores it and continues to act as the default browser. Any ideas?

    default browser in which context?

some software (such as MSN messenger) will only use IE.

make sure you pick your browser via the Set Program Access & Defaults page in Add/Remove Programs

Theres a plug in for Firefox or MSNPlus that allows u to use your default browser, cant remember what it was now but I do have it at work, the only thing IE gets used for now is badly coded pages that dont seem to work in FF and Windows Update, hmmm a link there I think

Yeah tried the set program access. MIRC keeps loading up Ie rather then Mozilla which im using atm (which is the main problem). MSn does as well but if u say there is no fix for that it makes sense i guess.

i think mirc, as it's so expertly coded, calls "iexplore %url", to force IE. in VERY recent versions of mirc, there should be a hidden setting in the mirc ini file to force another browser
