    Quicken free, anybody?

Intuit has mad available, FOC as an aid to updating to modern versions,
    Quicken 6 for Macintosh
    Quicken 6 for Windows
    Quicken 99 for Windows
    Quicken 2000 for Windows
    Quicken 2003 for Windows
Quicken 2004 for Windows (it's the Deluxe version).

Perhaps best to go to TinyApps first and follow the link (I'm always nervous about Intuit as even Q'98 tried to get on line once).

One word of caution, it appears these relate to US versions of Quicken, not the UK versions.

Does anybody know how much they vary?

I presume the US version doesn't have much in the way of localisation options?

One difference will certainly be the online facilities, like linking directly to supported banks, etc.

What would mainly worry me, as an existing Quicken UK user, would be data import if you upgrade an existing installation or try to import a UK datsbase into the US software. It might work, but I wouldn't want to bet on it.

If you're starting from scratch as a new user with no data, then it may just be having to use a $ symbol rather thsn a £ ( or €). If so, it's hardly a world-ending calamity. But I don't know the differences, just suspect them. It's possible there is only one version that configures itself on installation, but I very much doubt it.

    Re: Quicken free, anybody?

The totals etc. are correct - just the $ sign. It should pick up the system setting, but Quicken has always been awkward.

'04 found my '98 and wanted to install itself there then, on first start,
wanted to use the .QDF from '98. I copied the .QDF across to 'o4 and pointed
to that and the details were OK, but on a subsequent start it still wanted
    to go to '98.
