    Vista password Forgotten

Password seems to have been set on this Lappie, which belongs to my mate and his girlfriend. Both deny entering one !!. Anyway I have tried every way to enter the bios to check the boot sequence and have been unsuccessful so far. Machine is an old Evesham 8615 gtk Which should be F2 , F8 For safemode but iv'e tried them all with as I say no success to date. Looks like a USER password so so downloaded OPHCRACK Vista and burned the ISO to disc. Still can't get past first screen (see pics below). Was hoping to get into bios (to check boot seq. ) without opening the thing up and disconnecting the battery.

Just in case i'm wrong here ( never having had to do this for about 15 years) could someone have a look at these 3 pis and tell me if this is correct images for incorrect entry of vista home password or am i looking at a bios or boot password request. Just seems a bit strange to me that i am only getting an intel logo at left hand side and the phoenix thing on the right .

The bottom right seems to have a phoenix bios logo. Is this pre-OS? If you have a GUI based BIOS, they can look very similar to Windows.

'Backdoors' did not work so had to pull the thing apart and disconnect the battery for 5 mins, found a bit of a mess once i got in. Off to re-assemble and hunt down some motherboard drivers, sound etc.

Lucky a battery reset cleared it tbh, most nowadays do not reset that easy!

Well, with business-grade laptops with TPM, clearing the battery can make things worse: for instance some Thinkpads if they have a BIOS user password set and you disconnect the CMOS battery you get a supervisor password. Happened to me once with a Thinkpad X41. Fun!
