Forced to moved to the darkside - ASP.NET

For work they've told me that we don't do PHP anymore, so I have to switch to ASP.NET. I've never used VB or C#, but do know javascript, java and c. I've got a copy of vs.net and dreamweaver, can anyone recommend any good books or sites to help me out? and which software do people prefer to develop in, Thanks

Usually Visual Studio is the choice of IDE. Not too aware on books for c# although I should start making a move myself one of these days...

All the Wrox reference books are a good place to start....as you've got a background in languages, you shouldn't have any problems...

Usually notepad, a couple of O'Reilly Books, and google on standby..

VB is *so* easy to "program", the only trouble is once you've learned a proper programming language you keep wanting to use proper syntax for things, at which point ASP gets horribly confused

You could also do with reading up on XML if you're going to be playing with ASP.net, again, a good O'Reilly book and google should get you through most things

A proper language? I can assume you've not done any work with the .NET platform then
