    Outlook an improvment?

(Not sure where the best place for this is, so will leave that up to the mods)

When the force switch was made from hotmail to outlook I was not keen at all. I think mainly I was used to hotmail that anything else was not going to sit right, and I also hated the windows 8 look. And then there was the few issues of outlook taking ages to connect or send an email etc, but most issues seem to have sorted themselves.I still don't see the point in having the chat feature within outlook, as msn did that well enough. However, how many have moved completely to google or other providers? I'm slowly moving most of my emails over to google, but will still keep outlook just in case.

Still same topic but more of an error question......on the right hand side in outlook there used to be a side bar with adverts for microsoft things etc, but last few days its been blank with some circle symbol thing. Anyone else had that?

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

I really like the Outlook clean layout. Hotmail was a mess. The only trouble I have is that sometimes the whole screen seems to lurch with a massive redraw. Checkboxes I've checked become unchecked, and a few times I've lost text. Not sure if this is Chrome issue or not. also the android app is really good - can't fault it.

That is where messenger loads up. It seems slower. I don't use it for email anymore.

I have had an issue where I would reply to an email, and for some reason outlook becomes unresponsive, and I then have close the tab and start again.

Its below the bit where you can click on the messenger/chat bit and the sign out button. Its on the right hand side by all the emails, it will normally advertise the microsoft tablet, or bing, or tips on how to use outlook etc, see below-

Where as it used to be >>

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

i quite like the new outlook.com. and to be fair, if google keep making the changes they are doing, there is a strong chance of me swapping to it.

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

Outlook is pretty much Gmail, nice and simple. Much better than Hotmail imo

SkyDrive though.. that needs to be improved. They made that simple to the point were it's annoying to use

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

I admit outlook has improved a lot since hotmail was canned, and as for skydrive I have not yet used it. Fingers crossed that they keep improving it.

bytejunkie and iticu when you go into outlook, do you see what i'm seeing on the right hand side? I used to see microsoft adverts, but now its just a werid symbol.

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

I see the weird symbol as well with my ad block turned off. The symbol looks like a no luggage tag symbol lol.

Its back to normal now...............odd. The most pointless thing on outlook is the chat thing, its really not needed anymore.

Looked at my facebook activity log and saw this:

Now normally that option bit on the left in colour, but its now all grey....odd! Anyone else have the same?

    Re: Outlook an improvment?

I had no problem with hotmail, and I liked the layout when composing an email. Outlook although works ok most of the time, feels like its holding your hand.

Is anyone seeing what i'm seeing in the facebook screen shot? As i'm sure they used to by colour option on the left, not grey like they are in the screen shot.
