    Gathering data

Im I right in thinking that regardless of operating system (Microsoft) you can get drivers and load them to another PC? For example a friend is using 98 and I use 2000. Can I use my machine to get drivers for the selected 98 machine and then install them on her computer?

    Sorry if it is stupid!

Yes. Just download the drivers, burn them to CD / put on USB drive / whatever and then install them on your friends machine.
