GPU Folding quick questions ...

When GPU folding do you need a CPU core available per gfx card?
I read somewhere you should at least as much PC RAM as the gfx card's combined. Does this still hold true?

Currently CPU folding on work PC and adhoc on 7850 at home. I'm considering a multi-gpu ebay mix and match.

I haven't been in to GPU folding for months but if things haven't changed, it's best to keep one CPU core free for a number of NV GPU clients but one CPU core free for each AMD GPU client. I seem to recall there being newer cores which reduces CPU usage with AMD GPUs but I'm not sure if they're widespread or even released yet.

I don't know about the RAM, but I reckon you're good for multi GPU folding with any reasonable amount of RAM on a modern system as GPU clients take up a relatively low amount of system RAM.

Pondering an old Core 2 / Gen1 i7 build with dual GTX 650 TI. A single GTX 680 should net similar ppd for less cash but I've no PC I can run it in 24/7.
