    Web browser font display

    Hey folks,

I've got a really annoying issue, my computer displays a type of font like this:

On my laptop however the font is fine, but on my PC it looks rubbish, it does this in both Chrome and FF, IE isn't so bad.

I have installed some custom fonts, does it have anything to do with it?

This has been driving me nuts for a while now, any help would be appreciated!

    Try pressing CTRL + 0
That resets the font size, which would be my first guess. Should be very obvious in the menus to change to the default size as well.

You can change the font in FF in the options -> content menu, if it is that. Times New Roman is default, so unless something has over written that, it shouldn't be any anything serious.

That was one of my first thoughts, it didn't do a thing unfortunately, as said in the same browser on my laptop the font is displayed fine.

    Re: Web browser font display

I get the same problem, but in games like LOTRO.

its something to do with anti-aliasing, or the morphological filtering, because every time I use the override from catalyst the fonts go like your picture.

don't know how you fix it, mines just fixed itself after a few days.

failing that, 'cleartype font smoothing' rings a bell, that also changes how fonts are displayed. and I don't know where that is in control panel, but you should be able to find it

    Re: Web browser font display

Finally found a solution, it appears it's to do with ClearType fonts in Windows and it also seems to relate to GPU rendering in Chrome.

Text doesn't seem as sharp any more but it's a lot better then what it was. Thanks for the input.

Just wondering do you use a ATI GPU or Nvidia one?
