Hi![]()
I have offered to re-install XP for someone. When I originally installed it I created a partition. Drive D has all the programs where C has been left for XP.
Can I re-install XP on the C drive without any loss to data on the D?
Thanks![]()

You can keep all of the data, but most of the programs will stop working.
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
out of curiousity why does that happen?
The programs stop working since they need entries in the Registry - which is wiped when you format the C: drive - in order to work.Originally Posted by littlewill

i always install everything on the root drive, and keep my drivers, data and patches backed up elsewhere or on a diffrent drive\dvd
C: Windows/Programs/whatever
D: Data/Email

Can reinstall whenever I want without loosing anything important.
don't you always forget to back up the damn PST file...![]()
not everyone has £75 to spend on ms outlook, bobby
especially if all they want is email.
of course, somethign like thunderbird stores mail in %documentsandsettings%, which is on c:\ in the first place...
edit: thunderbird 0.8 you can configure where to store mail.
I used to have 2 drives, 1 for installed appz and os and another for music video save games, etc etc.
Got a fileserver that does 2nd drives job now though![]()
