Sharing Inbox contents in Outlook

Hi,

I am doing some pc maintenence for a company down the road and they have a request but im not sure myself how to do it or if it is even possible.

Basically they want to have 2 PCs. They want to be able to pick up email on either PC and view an up to date inbox on either PC, both with exactly the same contents.

Is there any way of making 2 copies of Outlook express on seperate PCs use the same Inbox / Outbox / Sent Items database (or whatever they call it).

I managed to share calendar info on Outlook by setting a registry option on one computer to look for the relevant files on the other across a network share. I'm sure there's a way of doing it but I'd have to google and I'm sure you've already done that

Alternatively persuade them to run an IMAP server or a better email client with this sort of facility inbuilt.

Seems like it can't be done with OE. Outlook otoh you can share the PST and set it up to look for a PST on a share.

if both computers use IMAP instead of POP3 they should be able to use the same email account to see the same folders. only the sent foulder wouldn;t be shared, but that depends on the mailserver.
You can get outlook folders shared, but you need either MS exchange server for it or SuSE OpenExchange Server.
