fr-08 .the .product on Windows 10

This is one of the famous old 64k demos, and I recently tried and failed to show it to one of my classes. It works fine on my various win7 boxes (and XP before), but on my work laptop with Win10 it fails to run with a dx error. DirectX is installed. Forcing compatibility with various previous win versions made no difference.

Is this a problem with all win10 installations, or just mine?

works on my win 10 home. specs in 'my system'.
downloaded the zip, opened it, double clicked the .exe , it ran.

I have run a dxsetup.exe for dx9 though, that was included with an old game.

Yeah I'd say it was most likely a missing DirectX DLL from an older distribution.

Great choice of demo by the way. What class do you teach?

Cheers for the responses. Looks like a problem with my machine. I tried an older dx redist, but no luck. Even tried forcing a 1024 resolution as it is unlikely to have been programmed for widescreen. Didn´t work.

Oh well, have to try something else.

I actually am teaching English to a bunch of teachers, as a second language. Was planning on using as a discussion point in a lesson on the future, and technology predictions. Let them think it´s a recently released program in 64k, then show them the actual file date of 15 years ago. Link that with a compare/contrast of their current phones, and an 8meg (yes) SD card I have. Usually produces good responses.
