No pun intended but...

Is there any Remote software out there which works DURING and AFTER a clean image/upgrade to the system.

My scenario:
PC is on Windows XP
I visit the PC across the road to upgrade it to a new 'image' of Windows 7 (with the Novell Client, all pre-set up by the company)

Ideally, I'd like to be able to install a piece of software which allows me to monitor the status of the image at least or when it's done, have a remote desktop connection.

I could do a few tests but I'm too lazy. Although, I was thinking this:
The C and D drives both get wiped basically (C being Windows and D being Local disk space)
Would it work if I partitioned the D in to a D and E. Installed a piece of remote software (e.g. LogMeIn) on 'E' (which doesn't get wiped).
I assume I wouldn't get any connection when it's imaging but what about when it's complete?

Any geniuses out there?

Intel vPro will allow you to have total machine access, including the BIOS level. It does need to supported by the system though and not all are. It's usually business / professional machines that have it.

Thanks for the response but I don't think it'll work as some of the machines are pretty old and there's a mixed range. They are from two or three different suppliers too.

In my case, this would work on standalone machines and laptops I believe because the Windows image is created by the developers and published over the networked. Therefore, we don't upgrade from disc separately. The image is created with all the pre-installed updates, drivers, fixes, Novell Client, etc. We only have access to run the image's unfortunately.

And to add: all our laptops are already on Windows 7 or 8, mac etc. and we would only create a standalone Windows machine if it was absolutely required (i.e. machine won't take image for hardware reasons -> a 64bit image won't run on some OLD machines).
