!!
Supposedly it is down to DX11.1 which is supported by Windows 8:

There is also a new patch for the game which is being released which will fix the odd performance with the FX63** CPUs(should be quicker than a Phenom II X6 I suspect).
Re: BF4 benefits massively from Windows 8!
Its doesnt bother me, on my i5-2500k @ 4.5Ghz + GTX 660 SLI + Win Pro x64 it runs just fine 55-60FPS (Adaptive vsync on). Using 331.40 drivers.
Re: BF4 benefits massively from Windows 8!
Interesting. Wondering if its just in this beta stage and will even out as they patch things or if this is going to be the norm moving forward.... if thats the case I might actually 'upgrade'
Re: BF4 benefits massively from Windows 8!
This is why they're touting mantle - anything that reduces CPU overhead is clearly beneficial in BF4, and it should give gains even greater than 11.1. Question is, is Mantle going to be available for Windows 7?

I would be staggered if it wasn't. What do AMD care which OS you are running? OFC Microsoft may try and scupper it, but I think the days of "DOS ain't done til Lotus won't run" are long behind us, and if Microsoft block this on Win7 then given the timescales here people may find themselves with the option of update the entire machine to Win8 or dual boot into SteamOS.

That Mantle Looks promising. Will see how its gonna be with other games, if they decide to support it its really possible that many gamers can start using linux. I prefer ubuntu over windows, but im forced to use windows to play new titles and dont bother with Wine configurations.
