    Object Desktop

Anybody here use Stardock's Object Desktop? I used window blinds yonks ago but I found it slowed windows (then '98) down considerably. I quite fancy replacing my bog standard XP desktop & I'm wondering whether this is a viable alternative.

I use windows blinds and I love it. I got 512mb ram though but it doesn't slow down with 256mb. Great proggy and you can get thousands of new themes on www.wincustomize.com

Actually you don't need ANY software if you want to give Windows XP a new theme. You can apply new themes using the built in theme manager in the display control panel. All you have to do is modify a single file and then your set. Here's how...

First you need to patch a file in windows called "Uxtheme.dll". Download a patched version of Uxtheme.dll from the internet (Google it or send me a message and i'll send you one) and then you can easily patch it with a simple little program called "Replacer" Once the file has been patched then you can download any theme from any website and it doesnt matter if its a StyleXP theme, or a WindowBlinds theme or Iconpackager, etc.

Just drag the folder that contains your new theme to:
C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes and your all set. Then right click on your desktop, select properties, go to themes and select your new theme.

You don't have to install anything and this solution uses zero system resources. (There is a patched uxtheme.dll file for SP1 users and non SP1 users so make sure you get the right file. Don't know about SP2 but I imagine they have a patched file for those users too)
