    Internet use limiter

    Hi all,

My brother has recently been killing my connection (1.5mb Blueyonder) with his spanish rave music stream's and him being a chav, you try and talk to him he just tells you where to go, and i pay for the internet. So then, i need a little app that will limit his internet usage, i have seen Netlimiter but that isnt free. Are there any free apps that will do that? If not i will have to bite the bullet and buy Netlimiter, also, can you password-protect netlimiter?

    Cheers,

    Craig

I use NetLimiter and it is great. It sadly doesnt have a password feature though.
I trust it will be on your computer though, so just password protect your windows instead by profile. So if your not at your machine, your desktop is locked.
    Hope this helps

If he has his own machine, and he has a resonable idea how to use it - i.e. will notice when the netlimiter splash screen shows, and that little con in the tray... your not going to be able to force netlimiter on him like that, esp without it haveing a password eature.. although he could quite easly stop it starting with windows..
A better idea, being to pull out his cat-5 cable from your router, next time he tells you where to go

if you have (or can get) an old pc, you can use it to shape the bandwidth on the network - and severely crimp his style by capping his bandwidth.

How do you do that? is it easy?

I have a PC acting as a router (sharing the internet) already and have the same problem but it's my kids nicking all the bandwidth

Make him pay some money towards it if you pay for the net(why dont your parents ) or does all his money go on fake jewellery, fake burberry and cider.

tbh bandwidth capping...whats that your using too much? oh have 1kbps. See how you like that. And the priority thing so that if you are both doing downloads or whatever your comptuer get the priority on the connection.

Block the port he uses for downloads. If he complains to your parents, show them webpages loading on his machine just fine, and say he's complaining about nothing.
