Thumbs up Audio issue in video

I extracted video from a minidv tape to my PC and the video is fine but the audio cuts out for a second every few seconds.
Is there a program to remove the silence ?

I extarcted the audio and used Audacity but the audio duration is the less than the video duration and that causes another issue!

    Re: Audio issue in video

You'd also need to cut out the areas of video where there is no audio if you want them to sync up perfectly.

My first thought would be a bad transfer from DV to PC, is the silence present on the original video? Might be worth re-copying it with different software/settings?

Recopying doesn't work virtuo as the original recording is problematic.
I have seen on Youtube that Final Cut Pro on a Mac can fix this issue.
I have found out about Sony's Movie Studio. Will download the trial and give it a go

    Re: Audio issue in video

Well if the sound cuts out in the original recording then your options are limited. It'd be interesting to know how Final Cut solves the problem (it doesn't sound like a "common" thing to me) without cutting out the video where the sound drops out, or is that what it does?.

Maybe it "stretches" the audio across the silence from either side, it might be passable if it's just background noise and not speech.

    Re: Audio issue in video

Depending on the nature of the video track and the capability of your software you may be able to add a backing music track that plays continuosly throughout the video thereby filling the gaps. Just ensure the backing track is apt and the volume low.

The issue is called Audio pops.

Damn Sony Vegas Movie Studio is a scam. On their product page, they show screenshot of a Audio restoration plug-in. After installation, it ain't there and I couldn't find anywhere to download it from! :@

Tried Adobe Soundbooth - useless - didn't remove any pops.

Will install MACOS on Vmware and try Final Cut pro
