After getting a fair few blu rays for xmas, was looking into ultraviolet which all the discs I receive seem to have a code for, can anyone recommend any ultraviolet players for the PC.
Thanks

Ultraviolet is just a logging system. You have to create an account there, then create and link an account and download the films through Flixster. It's cumbersome and there are too many steps, but that's what you have to do. I think there's a Flixster app for mobile devices but not sure about the PC. Just checked, and there's a Flixster app in the Win 8 store.

I created the account last night, it then said use on of our many players of which I couldn't find any. Oh dear I can see what you mean, I only wanted a player, I really don't want the other crap like reviews and loads of other integration.
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

If only.
You link an account and download the films through the publisher's preferred portal.
The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists, I have to watch on Sony's website.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I have to watch on Flixster's website.
Fox don't even use Ultraviolet, they give iTunes redemption codes.
The whole thing is a ****ing farce.

My god thats a bit around the houses. I thought from all the films that had the ultraviolet thing on it was going to be their own player across multiple devices.
Think I will give it a miss for the moment

How has your experience been of it Smudger, worth doing or worth waiting until its matured a bit? I know I have to use the codes before they expire though
Jon
In 2013, 20th Century Fox, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, took over distribution of DreamWorks Animation films for a 5-year-deal. (the Croods)
Epic - Produced by 20th Century Fox Animation & Blue Sky Studios, distrbuted by 20th CF
Trance is distributed by Fox Searchlight.
Jonj1611 - Once it's set up, it's not so much hassle, but you still have to put the code into UV, then go over to Flixster and add the film to your account. You have the option to download the film to your device for offline viewing as well.
Edit - I may have got the wrong end of the stick there. Anyway, I think the whole industry is looking at an alternative to UV, as it's generally seen as a PITA.

UV is just another example of how the movie industry is failing to give people what they want. Why would I jump through all the hoops to use UV, when I could just use some free software and rip it directly from the disk myself and use it on any device I like? If they think something like UV cuts down on illigal distribution they are deluded.
Well thought I would sit down today and give this a go, turns out the Flixster app is no longer available for Windows 8. So will have to do it through the website I guess but my god they need a different system than this.
Jon
Yep, you're not wrong there. I think there is something new in the pipeline...
Ah might just wait then, the codes don't expire for a while yet.
