    run box problems

For some reason the run box does not appear in the start menu . . also when you press windows+r all I get is a message along the lines of restrictions in effect on this computer. When I try to customize the start menu there is no option to enable the run command link in the start menu?!?!?

This pc is a second hand, I suspect it was on a business network and had/has got some restrictions which have stumped me...

    Any ideas??

    Thanks in advance

    Can you browse to C:\Windows\System32?
If not, can you get Task Manager up and access the New Task button on the Applications tab?

Run gpedit.msc to load the Group Policy MMC
Go to User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Start Menu in the left-hand pane
In the right-hand pane look at the settings for "Remove Run menu from Start Menu"

If it is enabled, double-click it and set it to disabled.
